Stephen was born in Dublin, Ireland, and lived there until the age of 24, at which time he moved to London where he currently resides.
He has always been interested in music, though it was not until his mid teens that he felt the full flowering of something quite expansive within him regarding its appreciation. He pursued a degree in music and philosophy at University College Dublin, and graduated finally with a first-class-honours degree in music in 2006. Following this he spent a year in King’s College, London, where he completed the MMus degree. He is about to embark on doctoral research on experimental music in the twenty-first century at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
Stephen is fascinated by music from all eras, and all areas. He reserves, however, a special affection for twentieth and twenty-first century music of all shapes and sizes. He considers himself a musician, and hopes to maintain and build upon his current adventures with free improvisation and (amateur) choral singing in the future.
