MusicalCriticism.com was established in March 2007 by Dominic McHugh and Agnes Kory in response to a growing demand for a website featuring high quality classical music and opera reviews written by musicians and musicologists.
Numerous comments made to us both by professional colleagues and less knowledgeable friends have made it clear that there is an audience for reviews which go beyond the surface and inform the reader from a point of view of specialist knowledge and experience.
We aim to provide more thorough examinations of musical works, texts and performances than is often the case, without isolating the general reader with unexplained technical language, thereby catering for all tastes.
We hope to offer a complementary, rather than competitive, alternative to the many popular music sites run by mainly amateur enthusiasts.
